Dani & Doug

Dogs make up a large part of my practice, however I’ve noticed a growing number of clients now seeking support for their cats, which I welcome with open arms. I also find a great joy in treating marsupials and native fauna.

My journey into animals care started with people. I originally trained as a Kinesiologist, using Acupressure, Flower Essences and Nutrition to support my patients. Over time, my focus naturally expanded to include horses, dogs and cats, especially as my own animal family began to grow. In many ways, my greatest teachers have always been my own animals.

One of the most pivotal moments in my path came when my beloved Kelpie x Huntaway suddenly became paralysed with a rare neurological spinal disorder. Desperate to help him, I began applying Bowen techniques from a book I had on hand. Gently working along his spine and neck brought remarkable improvement, and over a period of time, he was back to playing, walking, running and even coming along for some trail rides with the horses. That profound experience led me to formally train in Small Animal Bowen Therapy, and my boy went on to live a full and happy life.

Over the years, I’ve also witnessed the powerful impact of fresh food feeding and herbal medicine in supporting animal health. The evolution of plants and animals has been entwined, and in this time, plants have helped heal, nourish and sustain us. Until the early 1940’s, herbalism formed the foundation of our medical care system, including that of veterinary, until synthetic and chemically based medicines took over. A resurgence in green pharmacy practices in recent times reflects a broader shift toward a more natural, sustainable and personalised method of caring for animal companions and ourselves. These ‘new’ plant based remedies are actually one of the oldest forms of medicine on this planet.

This passion led me to complete a Diploma of Canine Natural Health & Medicine, and I’m now a Registered Canine Naturopath and Herbalist.
